Proportial representation is a system where the winners of an election are selected to match the proportion of the voters. For instance, voters are selecting people to fill a legislature of 50 people, and 12% of the voters select someone from the "Yellow Party", the winning legislatures will include the ten members of the Yellow Party who received the most votes. Other versions require that a certain percentage of the winners be from a particular religious group (Lebonon) or gender (Turkey?).
