The Tuvalu Parliament elections were held on August 3rd, 2006.

According to Radio Tuvalu, 32 candidates are contesting 15 seats in parliament. Of the 32 candidates, two are women, with one standing against Prime Minister Maatia Toafa in the Nanumea constituency.

The other woman candidate is Emily Koepke, contesting the Funafuti seat. She is currently executive director of the Family Planning Association of Tuvalu. [1]
